World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year and encourages awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
The host for World Environment Day 2019 is China and the theme is “Beat the Pollution”.
“I’m going out for a breath of fresh air” is a phrase we hear often throughout our lives. Unfortunately, in today’s world, that fresh air isn’t exactly fresh. As a result of increasing traffic, industrialization and urbanization, we have more air pollution problems than ever before. All this was highlighted in an informative and entertaining skit, song and assembly by Class XI-A and the JPIC girls. Air pollution facts and statistics were presented clearly shocking the audience into making a strong resolve to switch to a simpler lifestyle. A lot of suggestions were given on how to reduce air pollution. The assembly was followed by planting of saplings on the school premises. The Junior School children had a ‘Sit and Draw’ competition on the same theme.
