The Great Himalayan Cleanup 2019 on 26th May was organised by Zero Waste Himalaya in association with DLR Prerna. This year the Cleanup was organised around 10 Himalayan states with 90 sites cleaned by 80 organisations and 5500 volunteers. Some of our students, volunteers and teachers took part in cleaning the areas around our school mainly the Lochnagar area, starting of Haridashatta and the stretch of Hill cart road above our school. 15 sacks of waste were collected mainly comprising of plastic wrappers and bottles. 2 sacks were audited in school to figure out the top polluting brands. The result of the waste audit was presented to DLR Prerna. The cleanup provided an opportunity to get our hands dirty and reflect on the challenges of our existing consumption patterns and waste so that we move towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
